Santa Monica Mavericks

The Santa Monica Mavericks [28-8] were a rookie ball team sponsored by Ted in the Summer of ’54. Barnstormers for but one season, they faced local jcs, amateur clubs and one game against the Channel Cities Oilers [later the Reno Silver Sox]. When their petition to join the California League was denied, Ted blasted the decision
"They don’t care about the kids, their dreams or the game itself. Consequently, they don’t give a damn about America. Stalin fell and so to will they."
